Working hard on some amazing words by @tinareale. My shirt came from my church and it says “Better Together.”

This applies so well to the writing world. I’ve said it before, but it is really true- there is such joy in helping authors polish words God has given them. When authors and editors work as a team, there is a combined goal of making the book/project as great as it can be. I want my authors to know that I have their book’s best interest in mind. And I love seeing their work launch into the world. I often imagine how God will use it, how lives will be touched. ❤️ By the way, this applies to fiction just as much as nonfiction.
It’s a delight to create invaluable relationships with my authors that other online editing programs just don’t provide. We truly are “better together.”

Most of my posts have been scheduled in advance la

Most of my posts have been scheduled in advance lately. My husband and I are in the process of adoption (!!) and I’ve been editing the *best* manuscripts this past year. It’s a busy time, so I haven’t even checked my last 2 scheduled posts until yesterday.

The picture of my mom and dad caught me off guard. I had forgotten it was scheduled and it physically drew my breath to see them on this page. It’s close to the holidays which gives the normal ache of missing them an extra edge.

So my thoughts went immediately to heaven. One of the most challenging parts for me has been a belief of mine that there will be no need for them to be my parents in heaven. Yes, I’ll know them as my parents but everyone will be one big family of Christ, so the special parent/daughter relationship we shared won’t be the exact same in heaven.

I recognize that this is okay because everything is wonderful in heaven, but it really gives me pause when I think about relationships here on earth. My relationship with my spouse, my son, my family will not look the same in heaven as it does here. All will be perfected and glorified and wonderful—but what a gift it is right now.

Of course I sometimes dwell on the fact it was a shorter time with my parents here than I would’ve liked. A shorter time to do the “earthly” mom and daughter or dad and daughter things I would’ve loved doing.

It’s short, this earthly life.

Being with Christ and our families in heaven is more than I can imagine. It’s the most amazing thought to me that we get such a gift.

So I want to make every moment count with those around me right now. Our relationships are unique and a gift that won’t always look the same. It’s good to cultivate, restore and treasure what we have in our God-given lives. As you move forward this season, may you see those around you as a gift for this specific period of time.

Every day matters.
